TheraFace Depuffing Wand ($149)
Therabody's newest facial device is a motorized wand that offers cold and warm settings. I have reviewed Therabody's first facial tool, the TheraFace Pro and found it to be lacking and very expensive. I returned it. The Depuffing Wand is less than half the price and has functions I find to be more.
After about a month of use I have a lot of thoughts...as usual. My first impression was how quickly and easily the metal tip became hot and cold (it has 3 different temps for cold and heat). I also expected it to be really heavy since it needs a motor and fan for the hot and cold settings to work, but it's extremely lightweight.
Within the first week, I exclusively used the cold setting around my eyes. I let my husband use it after he woke up with puffy eyes from allergies and he loved it too. No, it doesn't get as cold as an ice roller, but it's more practical to use for travel or if you need it to stay a certain temp for long periods of time.
The brand markets the heat setting for adding glow, but online it seems most popular to use for sinus pain/pressure and TMJ. In my time of ownership I haven't had a need for either of those instances and instead used the video routines the brand has on YouTube. The 10 minute routine was particularly soothing and used both the cold and warm settings interchangeably. The routine is very similar to using a gua sha, but a gua sha uses pressure against the skin and Theraface recommends a very light touch. I didn't see any noticeable sculpting around the cheekbones or jawline, but there was an overall glow. This won't be replacing my gua sha or my ZIIP Halo, though. Even with product on the skin, the tip can pull a bit on the skin, not in a concerning way, but it's not the kind of tool you can just move around your face with ease like the other two.
For the mechanisms of the wand, I'm actually surprised it's not more expensive, BUT even with that opinion I still wouldn't buy this for full price. If it's on your list wait for a sale! Overall, I'm pleased with my purchase, but I'm not going to say you need to run out and get this.
