Nike Free Metcon 4 Training Shoe ($120)
These aren’t shoes you’re seeing everywhere, but they were a blogger-influenced purchase for me so no better place to review them! Like I’ve said before, I’ve got a tiny closet so I have to be very selective of what I put in it. In the past I would buy tennis shoes on the reg, usually shopping at the Rack or TJ Maxx, picking up any cute color way of Nikes I saw. While I had the space to store them, I generally wore the same one or two pairs while the rest just sat there. When we moved into our house I had to make major cuts. I paired down my tennis shoes to one pair, they lasted me well for two years but eventually needed to be replaced.
When I saw Brighton share these recommended by her trainer I knew these were the ones. They were cute and I loved how cushiony they looked. Knowing they were recommended by a trainer also gave me peace of mind of the support they’d give.
I chose the “Beetroot” color way to stand out against my always all black workout attire. In photos they can look chunky but in person they are perfect! What I love most is the comfort. The toungeless design keeps the support over the top of the foot secure without any wiggling. The shoes are incredibly light, bendy, and bouncy giving perfect arch support for lifting weights or just taking a walk. My one complaint, which is due to the tongueless design, is it’s a tight squeeze getting into the shoe but taking them off is a breeze so it doesn’t bother me that much.
If I had the space I’d 100% get another pair (the Platinum/Thunder Blue color way is 😍), but until then I’m happy to see these in my closet.
Does anyone else feel athletic shoe shopping to be extremely overwhelming? Almost all tennis shoes feel comfy from a quick try on, but the true test is doing an actual workout in them!
