+Luxe Unfiltered N32 Hydrating Self Tanning Cream ($32) +Luxe Unfiltered N12 Bronzing Face Drops ($42) +Luxe Unfiltered N14 Conditioning Body Cream (36)
The fact that I don’t have a photo of the brand’s hero product should tell you something. But let’s back up.
I LOVE Sivan Ayla. Her blunt personality is something I appreciate so much in a blogger. When she launched +Luxe Unfiltered I bought the Tanning Lotion and the Bronzing Drops the day they launched. The two things she boasted most about the Lotion was its intense hydration and its lack of self-tanner smell masked by Rosewood or Santal scents. The first claim is 100% correct. I’ve never used a tanning lotion that was so moisturizing, more than any body lotion I’ve ever used! The second claim though did not hold up for me. While the fragrance added to mask the DHA smell was immediately noticeable, within a few hours all I could smell was the classic DHA scent all sunless tanners have. I will say though that I might be in the minority here, as other friends who have used the product did not smell the DHA. While the smell for me was reason enough to not repurchase, the real kicker was my inability to blend it well. I personally enjoy foam self tanners and find their guide color to be easier to see where you have and have not blended enough. In short, the tanning lotion is a pass for me personally based on preferences, but if you like lotion sunless tanners if may be worth it to try.
The Bronzing Face Drops are something I still have in my bathroom and use sometimes. They are more subtle than other bronzing drops I’ve used from other brands and I they do not have any lingering DHA scent — yay! Will I repurchase again? Probably not. It’s an expensive product and I don’t really see enough changes unless I use 6+ drops.
I loved how moisturizing the Tanning Lotion was, so I decided to splurge on her colorless Conditoning Body Cream. It delivered the same intense hydration but I ultimately didn’t repurchase due to the high price tag. I use body lotion daily and go through products fast, so I can’t justify $36 for an 8oz bottle.
