Jenni Kayne Cashmere Cocoon Cardigan in Russet ($445)
I have finally tried the famous Cashmere Cocoon Cardigan loved by all on social media. This is not my first Jenni Kayne purchase, I own two pairs of sandals and love them, but this is my first experience with their clothes. The Cashmere Cocoon is easily the most seen on social media and was the #1 recommended product by you all!
The cardigan is 100% Mongolian Cashmere with faux-horn buttons, an oversized fit, and comes in nine shades and ten sizes. I chose the Russet color, a soft neutral brown that pairs well with a variety of colors.
I bought both the XS and S due to the mixed reviews I saw online and from followers. When they arrived they seemed almost indentical in size with the S being a smidge longer in the arms and width. (Both hit at or just below my butt) I wore the XS first and liked it. As the hours passed I noticed the cardigan became looser in the arms and the shoulders, leading to an even more oversized and slouchy look. To be honest I didn’t like the look on me all that much. Yes, it was comfortable, but oversized looks don’t usually do any favors for my body type. My friend tried it on whose a few inches taller than me (I’m 5’5”) and XS looked much cuter on her. (We both tend to be M in cardigans, tops, etc) If you’re a 4 or smaller how are you not swallowed by this?!
My biggest annoyance though was the lint. My pants, top, everything was LINT CITY. I had more lint from the sweater than from my dogs 😵💫 I wear a lot of black so lint is a pretty fast “no” for me. Let me know if this gets better with dry cleaning in the comments!
At the end of the day, I liked it but didn’t love it. And at $445, I better LOVE it! I told a friend that the only reason I’d keep it was for flights, but the more I thought about it I realized I could find an equally nice cardigan for less money and bonus…doesn’t make me look like a potato.
Most things in life come down to preference and this is no different. I’m not writing off Jenni Kayne’s clothes just yet, but you won’t see another cardigan in my “Just Purchased” posts anytime soon. The next time a JK sale rolls around, what should I try out next?
