I own a lot of travel toiletry bags and while I like them all I have become more and more impressed with my Stoney Clover Lane pouches. I have the large, medium, and small pouches from the Gilmore Girls line. The line is no longer available, but the sizes are. My favorite of the three is the large. I was able to fit my skincare, makeup, haircare, a round brush and even my straightener in the large with room! It’s the Mary Poppins of toiletry bags.
My trip to Washington DC was not planned around the cherry blossoms, but it was serendipitous that they were in peak bloom while visiting. The blooms around the Tidal Basin are world famous, but in my opinion the best cherry blossom trees were the two outside The Hay Adams hotel. Anytime we were arriving or leaving the hotel there was someone doing their own mini photoshoot with the blooms. If you’re in DC for the cherry blossoms or a local and find getting a photo around the basin hard to do without a million tourists in the background I highly recommend the corner of the hotel.

One of my childhood dreams came true last summer when I bought a Burberry Kensington trench coat in London. I had dreamed about this coat for so long I was nervous to actually wear it and it sat in my closet for MONTHS. I forced myself to bring it on the trip and it was perfect. The weight kept me warm without causing me to sweat while walking literal miles. It was comfortable and so versatile with how I buttoned and belted it. I packed pretty simply (jeans, sweater, top) and it made all my outfits feel and look polished, even the day I wore a trucker hat with it! As it was made to do, it held up great in the rain, high winds, and sun. This coat is why I’m such a big believer in NOT waiting to wear/use the good stuff. If you’re on the fence of buying a Burberry trench, this is your sign to go for it.
I’ve always been a light sleeper. Since college I’ve been an almost daily ear plug wearer. Anyone who has worn ear plugs knows that it is a delicate balance to find ear plugs that are comfortable all night long and offer great noise cancelling. Often I find plugs too soft and I end up hearing everything or they are too firm and I wake up in the middle of the night to adjust them. After 12 years of ear plug usage I have found the best ear plugs ever. They are so soft, easy to manipulate, and even when I have stuck them a little too deep they’ve never caused any discomfort in my ear. Most importantly, I can barely hear a thing! My husband sleeps with a CPAP, fan, and humidifier and I can’t hear any of it. I might buy ten packs so I’ll never fear they could become discontinued or changed.
What I Watched
Irish Wish (Netflix) - The Lohanissance is here and I love it. I’m not going to lie, this movie was really cheesy, but I loved it all the same. It launched on St. Patrick’s Day, but you could watch it anytime. It’s an easy and sweet “be careful what you wish for” style movie. I hope Lindsey takes on projects more reminiscent of her past movies because I’ve missed her.
Quiet On Set (HBO Max) - The 90/2000s were childhood heaven. Disney and Nickelodeon were at their prime with hits like Lizzie McGuire, DCOMs, All That, The Amanda Show, and more. Quiet On Set takes an investigative look into the dark side of Nickelodeon at that time. If you’ve been on the Internet the past week there’s no way you haven’t seen the news about Drake Bell. His story is in the middle of the four-part series. It is dark, disturbing, and sad, but I do think it’s an important story to hear as a cautionary tale for parents with children who have hopes of stardom. You also will not be able to stop yourself from wondering about what probably happened to Amanda Bynes on those sets.
