Dyson Airstrait ($499)
Dyson's Airstrait is the love child of a blowdryer and straightener. If you are looking for waves you're better off with the Airwrap. Unfortunately, the Airwrap was an epic fail on my my fine, frizzy, curly hair that needs to have tension on the top to smooth it out. But back to the Airstrait...
Some context about my hair health rn: This time last year I started experiencing major hair fall out due to stress. Thankfully with time and the help of Nutrafol (on my 3rd month, review's coming in the new year) my hair is finally growing back and falling out less. In the video you'll see that I took small sections of wet hair and as I passed down the section tons of baby hairs started poofing up. At first I thought this was frizz and I was so disappointed but I took my round brush to them for a few passes with the Airstrait clamped and they immediately smoothed into place and the result was mind blowing. The top sections of my hair have tons of baby hairs around my hairline, but once again the Airstrait smoothed out 98% of the hair and using my round brush I was able to get my roots completely smooth and flat, even smoother than using my Supersonic dryer.
I actually like this better than my Supersonic. With the Supersonic, I use the highest heat and fan setting and a round brush. The round brush inevitably rips out more hair from the tension, and it never leaves my hair 100% smooth and frizz free. My roots often need smoothing out with a straightener after, but with the Airstrait I get pin straight hair from root to tip. Compared to the Airwrap, this tool is much more intuitive and I didn't feel like I needed to watch 10 Youtube videos to master it.
Yes, I still have to use a curling wand to add in the waves I always wear, but cutting my heat tools from 3 to 2 is a plus in my book and the level of smooth I am able to achieve was mind blowing to me and to friends. I couldn't stop touching my hair! The only person I think who would not like this tool is maybe someone with very short hair or naturally pin straight hair, but if your hair is shoulder length or longer, you didn't like the Airwrap, and you struggle with frizz, you NEED this.
