Dieux Instant Angel Skin Restoring Moisturizer ($45-78)
After being sorely underwhelmed by Dieux’s reusable eye patches (find that review on the feed!), I didn’t have very high expectations for their moisturizer. But when I saw everyone and their mother posting about it in January I succumbed to their excessive social media marketing.
Instant Angel is a fragrance-free rich moisturizer that is formulated to protect and repair the skin’s barrier. It is very closely formulated to SkinCeutical’s Triple Repair cream and if the rumors are true, the two products were created by the same people. Both use many of the same star ingredients of peptides, ceramides, and fatty acids to plump and strengthen the skin. What stood out to me most when comparing the ingredient lists were Dieux’s first three ingredients of water, glycerin, and squalane are so much better than SC’s of water, dimethicone, and hydrogenated polyisobutene. Next big win was no fragrance and lastly SC’s was full of dimethicones, a silicone that while not harmful, is like putting lipstick on a pig.
The texture of the cream is rich, but not so rich I would worry it would cause any clogged pores or a greasy residue. In the swatch photo, I used it on the bottom half of my hand and you can see a subtle glow that is left on the skin. Honestly, if they made a hand cream version of this I’d buy it so quick! Overall, I was very surprised at how much I loved this moisturizer. It absorbed quickly, but still left that glow and “bounce” to the skin. It worked well under makeup, particularly my favorite Merit concealor stick, and kept even my driest spots (undereyes, forehead) hydrated all day.
I’m crossing my fingers this gets stocked at Nordstrom or Sephora in the near future, but even if it’s not I think I will actually repurchase this and for a moisturizer, that’s saying a lot from me.
