Crown Affair Leave-In Conditioner ($48), Oil ($40), Texturizing Air Dry Mousse ($38), Renewal Mask ($58)
Pictured are all travel sizes purchased during the Sephora Sale. The Air Dry Mousse is not pictured, but it’s shown in the photo carousel. Prepare yourself to see just how curly/frizzy/fine my hair actually is 🙃
Leave-In Conditioner - A leave in is a must for me and is my first step out of the shower. Crown Affair’s is very lightweight, almost watery, which makes it great for fine hair (me!). Unfortunately, it could not fully tackle my frizz alone. It left my hair soft, but fluffy and curly girls know fluffy is not the vibe. I also wish it protected against heat above 350 degrees to be used pre blowdrying 🥲
Oil - This oil adds great shine to dry hair, but found it to be too heavy for damp hair pre-blowdrying. I’ve used this as my pre-bed hair oil. Combined with a silk scrunchie, you’ll have shiny and smooth hair by morning. Like the leave-in it only protects up to 350 degrees.
Air Dry Mousse - This is the brand’s hero product and man oh man does it work. Maybe too well 😂 I have very curly hair that shrinks a lot, but I’ve never had a product make my hair so curly and so short. I showed my hairstylist and she was dying laughing. I like that it didn’t make my hair feel stiff and crunchy and was easy to work through the hair. If you have even the slightest wave or curl this product will bring it out. If my hair was 2x as long I’d definitely buy this again.
Renewal Mask - A common denominator with CA is their products are lightweight. This mask is good for fine and thin hair, but I don’t think it would do much for those with a lot of texture and/or damage. I’ll use up my travel size, but don’t see myself repurchasing.
Overall, the products were hit or miss depending fully on MY hair. Those with much easier or less curly hair will most likely get along great with the entire Crown Affair line. The one thing across the board that I loved was the scent. It’s a bergamot, yuzu, and lemongrass scent that is the perfect strength.
I’m really glad I finally tried out this highly requested brand. If you’ve tried the Crown Affair, what’s your favorite product?
