Cadence Original Capsules (set of 6: $76 and set of 12: $143)
I’m an overpacker, but where I really go to town is my bathroom bag. I easily fill 2-4 toiletry bags in a variety of sizes. It’s not that I bring a lot of makeup or skincare, but the products I use rarely come in a travel size or are too hard to decant into the horrible thin plastic travel containers sold at Target.
Cadence is brand that is here to solve this problem and give us a leakproof container that gets even better with super magnetized sides, customizable, and change-out tiles for ultimate bathroom travel organization.
Cadence offers standard tiles for free and customized tiles for $2. I loved the idea of customizing some of the tiles to things I never travel without like Weleda Skin Food. The capsule tiles and sides are super magnetized and are very easy to waste 10 minutes playing with. Each capsule holds .56ml of product and their website estimates how many uses of products you can expect to fit. Some estimates are better than others. I don’t know who is fitting 6 uses of shampoo into .56ml of space except my husband. Products that require a lot less like eye cream, can easily fit a month or more uses.
In my month of use I took these on 4 trips. On my very first trip I unfortunately faced leakage (last photos) with all my oil based products. Because they were oil I only filled up about 10% of the capsule so the leakage was not from overfill. Thankfully, their customer service is incredible and sent me new capsules to replace the leaking ones. Their leak proof design is actually patented so they take leakage very seriously, which I appreciate. The only other con I would have is they are quite heavy because the magnets are so strong. It’s not a huge deal, but if you’re expecting a lightweight plastic capsule you won’t get that with these.
Last week, Cadence launched a new system with multiple sizes and an extender. While I enjoyed my originals I will be returning them to purchase the new design. I look forward to actually have enough space to put 6 uses of shampoo and utilizing smaller sizes for things like eye cream or jewelry.
