Barefaced Toning Pads ($50)
Winner winner! Finally a Barefaced product I have fallen in love with. I don't usually spoil the review that quick, but that's how much I love these pads.
Before I was using the Dr. Dennis Gross Peel Pads. They worked, but I hated the process. The two steps and having to wait a few minutes in between was annoying especially at night when I'd be trying to get out of the bathroom and into bed. Even worse than the process, a 30 pack was almost $100! That's crazy if you ask me and I'm not above spending $$$ on products.
The Barefaced Toning Pads solved all the issues I had with the DDG pads. One pad is all you need, no waiting or additional steps. I love how they cut out a finger hole for ease -- it's these little details in a product that go a long way in impressing me. The pads have some texture to them but it's the acids inside doing the heavy lifting. The pads have glycolic, lactic, salicylic, mandelic, and succinc acids. You'd think all these acids would be really overpowering, but they were gentle on my skin which often gets temporarily flushed with chemical exfoliants. The pads I used are the beginner level pads and I already know my skin can handle the Toning Pads II.
I use these pads mostly at night, but will use them in the AM as well if I want my skin to be extra smooth or I just feel like it. If you're new to acids they recommend starting at 3 times a week and working your way up to more. I have been able to work up to daily with no sensitivity. After each use my skin feels smooth and the next morning my skin looks more even. They haven't stopped me from getting hormonal breakouts or changed my skin in an overly dramatic way, but that's to be expected with beginner level strengths. If you've been using this product and aren't seeing any improvements you could tolerate the higher strengths in Toning Pads II.
These pads are recommended for normal to dry skin (aka me) and the Toning Pads II are for normal, combo, oily, and acne prone. Though I would still recommend starting with the originals if you've never used acids before to be safe. Would love to know your experience if you've tried either Toning Pads from Barefaced!
